Architect
The County Architect Division is responsible for the design, construction and
construction administration of all County building improvement projects. The Division
reviews all requests from County departments and agencies for building modifications or
new facilities; plans the long range space needs program for the County; develops
multi-year capital improvement programs; programs and designs building projects;
coordinates the work of consultant engineers on in-house design projects; develops cost
estimates of labor and materials; purchases materials; schedules crews that perform
demolition, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, drywall, steel erection, painting and
finish work; selects and contracts the work of sub-contractors as required; provides
County representation on projects done by outside design firms; manages projects done by
outside contractors; and administers the County-wide signage program.
