Reference: Dumped Hazardous Material

On November 7th, 2013 at approximately 1240 hours, Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Lyons Fire Protection District responded to the Black Bear Inn Restaurant (42 East Main Street) in the Town of Lyons reference a container (containing an unknown substance) that had been dumped in the parking lot of this location.  Also assisting in the current ongoing investigation is the Boulder County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.


The substance was identified and was taken away from the scene by the EPA.  The container is described as a metal container (approximately 30 gallon size) and blue in color. The container was dropped off at approximately 7:30 am by a vehicle (possible pickup truck).  If anyone had seen this occur or has any information, please contact the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center at 303-441-4444.
