Transportation tax
helps improve mobility and reduce pollution, congestion and tension
In November of 2001, the voters
of Boulder County passed a ballot issue that allowed for a 0.10 percent
(1 cent on $10) countywide transportation sales
tax.
This seven-year capital improvement project sales tax raises approximately $3.5 million a year
to be spent on countywide transportation
projects (maps) that are needed to
help reduce congestion, improve safety, and increase the efficiency of
alternative modes and traffic flows.
The Transportation Sales Tax is helping to fund improvements on 66
miles of roadways in the County, including approved road widening
projects (including the addition of shoulders appropriate for cycling where
approved), and repair and construction of roads and bridges. The tax also helps
support priority transit programs for the County.
A 5-year status report
