"Worthy Cause" sales and use tax

Capital support for nonprofits

One of the greatest financial challenges facing local non-profits is the high price of obtaining and/or improving facilities that fit their specific needs as they serve the population.

In 2008, County voters approved “Worthy Cause III,” a ten-year extension of a .05-percent sales and use tax that helps fund capital facilities for non-profit organizations. Through this tax, Boulder County’s taxpayers helped fund the nonprofits listed below.

Debt reduction refers to payments towards capital debts such as mortgages and loans for construction/renovation.

Worthy Cause Pool Funds

The Worthy Cause sales tax revenues include a pool of funds to be allocated through a competitive grant process. The application process begins in April. For more information and requirements, please contact Megan Davis.
