"As trusted stewards of Boulder County, we provide the best in public
service."
-Boulder County Mission Statement
Inspired by their mission to be stewards of the county and to provide the
best in public service, Boulder County's leaders and employees make sustainable
practices a priority in day-to-day operations, as well as in long-range decision
making.
Sustainability is a long-term goal that seeks to balance environmental,
health, economic and social needs. It focuses on the wise use of natural
resources, reduction of waste and pollution, efficient use of energy and fuel,
and other practices that sustain our environment and preserve our quality of
life into the future.
Sustainable practices permeate every level of County operations and are
practiced by every department and division.
Because sustainability is a priority, Boulder County invests funding into
implementing sustainable operations, developing new programs and promoting
community involvement and education. These efforts are funded in part by
Ballot Issue 1A (2005), as well as by dollars from the
County's general fund and from various grants and outside sources.
