Mental Health State Cases and Alcohol/Drug Abuse Treatment Commitments
The County Attorney represents the People of the State of Colorado in mental health proceedings (§27-10-111(5), Colorado Revised Statues) and
in Alcohol/Drug Abuse Treatment Commitments, (§25-1-311, C.R.S.), as required
by state statutes.
Although
the County Attorney's Office does not provide general legal advice to the
public, the office does provide limited public advice concerning mental health and alcohol/drug abuse
issues, such
as 72-hour holds or certifications for the mentally ill, dangerous or gravely disabled people, and commitments for alcohol/drug abuse
