Vehicles 1982 and Newer
1982 model year
vehicles and newer require an enhanced emissions test, which is valid for two
years. All gas-fueled vehicles
are exempt from emissions testing within the first four years of service.
For example: This year 2009, we will exempt all 2006 through 2010 model year gas-fueled vehicles from emissions testing. Next year in 2010,
we will exempt 2007 through 2011 model year gas-fueled vehicles from emissions testing.
Exception:
If a gas-fueled vehicle tests for emissions anytime during
the four-year exemption period, the four-year exemption period is
invalid and the vehicle must be tested every two years.
Unlike license plates, no grace period is
given on emissions tests.
Motorcycles are exempt
from emissions testing requirements.
