Vehicles 1982 and Newer
Vehicles model year 1982
and newer require an enhanced emissions test, which is valid for two
years. Effective September 1, 2005 - All gas- fueled vehicles
are exempt from emission testing within the first four years of service.
For example: This year 2008, we will exempt all 2005
thru 2009 model year gas-fueled vehicles from emission testing. Next year in 2009,
we will exempt 2006 thru 2010 model year gas- fueled vehicles from emission testing.
Exception:
If a gas-fueled emission vehicle tests for emissions anytime during
the four-year exemption period, the four-year exemption period is
invalid and the vehicle must be tested every two years.
Unlike license plates, no grace period is
given on emission tests.
Motorcycles are exempt
from emission testing requirements.
