Emissions Testing Locations

Boulder County and five other metro Denver counties are in the enhanced vehicle emissions test program.

There are two Air Care Colorado™ stations located in the Boulder/Longmont area:

  • 5655 Airport Boulevard, Boulder (Map)
  • 4040 Rogers Road, Longmont (Map)

A third station is located in Broomfield:

  • 11609 Teller Street, Broomfield (Map)

Other Air Care Colorado™ stations can be found by looking at this Interactive Map.
Hours of operation:  Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays  8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

An enhanced emissions test is required at an Air Care Colorado center every two years.  Your vehicle registration renewal postcard will state whether or not a test is required.
If your emissions sticker expiration date is out of sequence with your registration renewal, retain your emission test paperwork as it will be required when you renew your registration.

  • Newly manufactured gas-fueled vehicles purchased after October 1, 1994 are exempt from emissions testing for 4 years, or until a change of ownership.  Exception: If a gas-fueled emission exempt vehicle, tests for emissions, (during the four-year exemption period), the four-year exemption period is invalid and the vehicle must be tested every two years.
  • Newly manufactured diesel vehicles purchased after October 1, 1994 are exempt from emissions testing for 2 years, or until a change of ownership.

All vehicles are retested when there is a change of ownership.
Vehicles manufactured prior to 1982 will continue to be tested yearly with an enhanced tail pipe test.
Both the enhanced test and the tail pipe test are performed at the Air Care Colorado stations. The enhanced test is $25.00 and the tail pipe test is $15.00.

For information on other enhanced test center locations and wait time information, call Air Care Colorado Hotline at 303-456-7090.
For vehicle registration information, call the Boulder County Clerk's office at 303-413-7710.
