Who Perform Ceremonies

Marriage License Application
Both the bride and the groom must complete
and sign the marriage license application. The license fee is $30.00.
Each applicant must bring proof of identity and birth date, such as a
current U.S. driver's license or a current passport.

If either party is
divorced, you are required to provide the
date, place and type of court for the divorce.

If either party is widowed,
you are required to provide the date and place of death of your deceased
spouse.

If one of the parties
cannot appear in person, the other party must
apply in person and bring a completed absentee affidavit for the absent party,
along with a copy of the absent party's ID, showing proof of age.

The absent party must complete an
absentee affidavit and sign it before a notary public before it can be
accepted by the marriage clerk.

Applicants for a marriage license
do not need
to be Colorado residents.

A marriage license may be obtained in any
Colorado
county and used within the State.

Parties are not required to apply for a
marriage license in the county where the ceremony will take place
nor in the county where they reside.

The license is valid for 31 days, including the date of
issue, anywhere in the State of Colorado.

Marriages are prohibited:

If one of the parties is
still married to another person

Between ancestor and descendant
-
Between brother and sister
-
Between uncle and niece
-
Between aunt and nephew

License
The Boulder County Recording
Division issues marriage licenses during business hours at the following
locations:

Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (except for legal holidays)

Applicants
must be in the office by 4:15 p.m. to allow time for issuance of
the license.
Age Requirements
The age requirements for both the
bride and
groom is 18 years of age and older.
For marriages at the ages of 16 and 17, consent of both parents
(or parent having legal custody), or guardian, or judicial approval is
required.
Blood Test
Blood tests are not required for either the
male or female applicant.

A marriage may be performed by
the following:
If the
bride and groom choose to perform their own ceremony, they must complete the lower portion of the
marriage license and sign as both
bride and groom as well as parties to the marriage. The type of ceremony
and words exchanged (if any) are their choice.
