Facts About Elder Abuse~
|

Victims of abuse are often at-risk because of age or
disability.

Abuse, exploitation, and neglect are often caused by
caregivers or family members.
-
Abuse occurs in all classes of society; in urban and rural
areas, in family and community settings; in nursing homes and other care
facilities.

In Boulder County over 200 incidents of abuse,
exploitation, or neglect are reported each year.
-
In Colorado, approximately 4,000 incidents of elder and
adult abuse, exploitation, or neglect are reported each year to Departments
of Social Services. Many more cases go unreported.

Avoid caregiver burnout by taking care of yourself, too.

Ask for help when you need it.
