Assets for Colorado Youth (ACY)
ACY
has partnered with Denver Public Schools to create Assets at 5 schools with the
"Expect Success Project." At an Assets training put on by youth and
adults with 100 attendees, students helped develop the following pledge for
parents to sign:
• Talk to school staff
every 2 weeks to find out about your child’s progress
• Talk to your child
daily about his/her interests, dreams, and goals
• Attend school functions
that your child is interested in or participating in
• Get to know your
child’s friends, and help your child to build positive relationships
A research team from DU
will evaluate the Project. Some indicators will be:
• Participation at
activities
• Utilization of the
Assets messages and impacts on student attendance
• Homework completion and
grades
• Parent involvement and
relationships with their children
• Teacher’s perceptions
of student attitudes and school/parent relations.
