Domestic Abuse Prevention Project
Volunteer Opportunities
Research Assistant~
The Research office is responsible for collecting all data and conducting statistical analysis of all domestic violence cases reported to law enforcement in Boulder County. In order to do this, DAPP cannot function without the support of volunteers (this may include student interns).
The volunteer’s role will include (but is not limited to):
-
Reading and interpreting law enforcement reports on intimate partner violence cases.
-
Using multiple criminal justice databases to track cases throughout the prosecution process.
-
Monitoring cases for compliance with conditions of dispositions.
-
Assisting Case Monitor with data entry on all cases, and with quarterly statistical reports for Project.
Working as a research assistant is an excellent opportunity to learn about the criminal justice system and the complex dynamics of domestic violence, including an inside look at how various agencies communicate and coordinate around these issues.
The job is best suited for persons with an interest in research, domestic violence and the criminal justice system. Basic computer skills are helpful, but training will be available on the necessary systems.
