Justice System Volunteer Program

Internship Opportunity:
Discovery Unit Assistant, D.A.’s Office ~

Assist in handling the distribution of legal documents to defense attorneys or defendants. Receive and document payments, maintain the appointment calendar and the unit’s filing system. The D.A.’s Discovery Unit coordinates the process of distributing information, reports and documents that are related to the prosecution of criminal cases. By state statute regarding discovery, these reports must be provided to defense counsel and defendants upon request. Preference is given to pre-law students with a basic knowledge of the criminal justice system. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Flexible days, 3-6 hours per week, 9:00-12 noon or 1:00-4:00 pm. Six month commitment.
