Justice System Volunteer Program

Internship Opportunity:
Jail Education & Transition Team (JET) Intern~

Assist JET staff in teaching (a. literacy skills to inmates who are pursuing ESL and/or GED studies or (b. life skills such as problem solving, communication, decision-making and anger management. All inmates are in work release at the Boulder County Jail and are participating voluntarily. These educational tools help inmates function more effectively and thereby reduce recidivism. Some knowledge of Spanish and/or experience teaching ESL is helpful. Graduate-level, juniors or seniors, depending upon prior experience. Three to six hours/week for one or two semesters.
