Boulder
County Housing
History~
Boulder County
Housing of was established in 1975 to
promote and provide quality, affordable housing for lower-income
families, the elderly and disabled people.
Through a variety of innovative
programs, the Housing Authority has become a leader in meeting
the housing and social service challenges of Boulder County in
the 21st century. With county rental costs skyrocketing, the
Boulder County Housing programs have helped create greater community
diversity by allowing lower- income individuals and families to
remain in their communities, living near employment, shopping
areas and public transportation.
The municipalities
of Broomfield, Lafayette, Lyons, Superior, Nederland, Ward and
Jamestown have joined the County Housing Authority. The cities
of Boulder, Longmont and Louisville created their own housing
authorities, which work cooperatively with the Boulder County
Housing Authority through intergovernmental agreements.
