The first step for a first-time homebuyer is to attend a
Homeownership course. Please check the
class schedule
for more information.
- How do I know if I am eligible for any of the
affordable home programs?
Eligibility for the affordable home programs is determined
by the specific city or non-profit program in which you are
interested.

- Do I have to register for the Homeownership class?
No, you do not have to register for the class. However, you
must arrive early to the class because seating is only
available on a “first-come, first-served basis”.
- Can I take the Homeownership classes out of sequence?
No, the Homeownership course consists of three levels that
must be taken in sequence. Class Level 3 must be
completed within 9 months of completing Level 1 in order to
receive a certificate. Please check the
class schedule
for more information.
- How long is the Homeownership class certificate
valid?
Per CHFA regulations, the class certificate is only valid
for 9 months. If you have not purchased or secured a loan
within that time frame, you must take the Homeownership
course again.
- What if I have other questions regarding the
Homeownership class?
If you have any other questions regarding the Homeownership

- When can I schedule a pre-purchase
counseling session for Longmont Community Housing Program or
the Boulder County/City of Longmont Down Payment Assistance
Program?
You may schedule a one-on-one pre-purchase counseling
session after the City of Longmont has a complete
application, all the required paperwork, and you are
considered eligible for the program(s).
