District Attorney Stanley L. Garnett
District Attorney Stanley L. Garnett was sworn into office on January
13, 2009.

Mr. Garnett was elected as the District Attorney for Boulder County in
November, 2008. Before he assumed the position of District Attorney, he
was a trial lawyer for 22 years at the firm Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber
and Schreck. Mr. Garnett specialized in complex litigation at the state
and federal level, and has appeared before the United States Supreme
Court, the 10th and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeal, the Colorado
Appellate Courts and in state and federal trial courts across the United
States.
District Attorney Garnett is a long-time Boulder resident. His father
graduated from Boulder High School in 1943 and Mr. Garnett graduated
from Fairview High School in 1974. He then received his Bachelor of
Arts degree in 1978 from the University of Colorado, graduating Phi Beta
Kappa, and his Juris Doctor degree in 1982 from the University of
Colorado. From 1982 to 1986, he was a Deputy District Attorney in the
Denver District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Garnett was elected in 1997 and
2001 to the Boulder Valley School Board, serving as president of the
Board during his final term in that office.
Mr. Garnett is well-known in the legal community as a top-level trial
lawyer, and has received a number of distinctions from the legal
community during his years in private practice. |
