11. According to the Colorado Department of Labor, when you are terminated your wages are due and payable immediately, unless your employer’s accounting department is not open.  In that case, wages due must be available no later than six hours after the department is open.  When an employee quits or resigns, wages are due on the next regular payday, no later than ten pays following the close of a pay period.

If an employer does not pay you, you must send or deliver a “Demand For Payment” stating how much is owed.  If an employer refuses to pay you, it may subject them to a penalty that may meet or exceed 125% of the amount owed, or up to 10 days of compensation, whichever is greater (C.R.S. 8-4-109).
