Can I speak to a D.A. before my court appearance?
Generally this is not possible due to the high volume of cases
heard daily. Also, in preparation for the first court appearance
the courts will have prepared a file for each case. Therefore, it
is necessary to wait for the date written on the ticket before
speaking to a DA.
If the only charge on the ticket is no proof of insurance and you
had a valid insurance policy at the time of the incident, you may
show this proof beforehand to the Clerk of the Courts, and the
charge may be dismissed, with the court date being vacated.
