Juvenile Diversion
Services Provided
All juveniles who are
referred into the diversion program will be required to complete the
following:
Risk Assessment
The Risk Assessment is an
interview with the juvenile and at least one parent. It was designed to
determine the level of risk for re-offending posed by the juvenile
offender and target the most appropriate and effective interventions to
guide the rehabilitative effort. The instrument used by the Boulder DA
is called the Washington State Juvenile Court Assessment.
Diversion Review
The Diversion Review is a
meeting between the juvenile, his/her parent/s and the Diversion
Coordinator. It is held a few days after the first court appearance. If
accepted into Diversion, juveniles are issued appropriate conditions
based on the Risk Assessment, criminal history, DA recommendations, and
the severity of the charges.
If the juvenile denies
responsibility, refuses Diversion and is not deemed appropriate for the
program for other reasons, he/she are given a return court date. |
