Area Agency on Aging

The Area Agency for Aging (AAA) for Boulder County is also a division of Boulder County Community Services Department. Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of older adults by building on individual, family, and community strengths. As the AAA, Aging Services Division provides leadership in assessing the strengths and needs of older adults; facilitates strategic planning and implementation; funds and provides services to benefit older adults and their family caregivers, and convenes community conversations.  

Research, Surveys, and Plans

As the Area Agency on Aging, Boulder County Aging Services conducts research about the region and participates in planning. During 2010, BCASD authorized National Research Center to conduct a survey of older adults in Boulder County. The reports from the Community Assessment Survey of Older Adults™, known as CASOA™, include a full report for Boulder County, brief reports for four communities, and benchmarks for the County and State.

During the summer of 2010, a series of community conversations were held as part of the strategic plan update process. The consulting firm, KezziahWatkins facilitated that process and produced a summary report of the conversations. These various research reports are:

Area Agencies on Aging are required to provide a plan for their area every four years indicating vision, trends, targeting, and services that will be provided.  The current Area Plan (3Mb) for Region 3B (Boulder County) is for July 2011 – June 2015. The strategic plan owned and contributed to by the community at large, Age Well Boulder County (13Mb), was updated in the fall of 2010.
