Child Protection Review Teams

Two community teams, informally called CPRT, serve as a “check and balance” for the Department of Housing and Human Services on all cases of child abuse and neglect. CPRT meets weekly to discuss all new intakes involving child protection issues. If the Department of Housing and Human Services has a case involving a child, CPRT is mandated to review it. CPRT abides by strict laws of confidentiality, and strives to do a thorough review on every aspect of the case. The team gives feedback directly to the case-worker at Human Services, and reviews all follow up questions and concerns.

The Longmont team reviews cases that occur in Longmont, Lyons, and Allenspark.
The Boulder team handles Boulder, Niwot, Louisville, Lafayette, Erie, Superior and the mountain communities.

Professional members on the teams serve on behalf of their agencies. These include representatives from Law Enforcement, Schools, Social Services, Mental Health, Public Health, hospitals, D.A's Office, Women's Coalition/Safehouse, physicians, Non-Profit agencies dealing with children (such as CASA) and community representatives.

Community representatives are volunteers who apply by contacting Jackie Antoine. Representatives from the teams assist in interviewing these potential team members, and a decision is made after assurance of confidentiality is determined. Team lists are available upon request.
If you suspect that a child is being neglected or abused in Boulder County, please visit the Housing and Human Services site and click on Family and Children, Child Welfare or you may call Human Services directly at 303-441-1000.

If it is an emergency, please call 911.
