2016 Party Caucus Information

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office does not conduct the precinct caucuses nor the delegate selection process. The caucuses are conducted by the political parties.

The following is information provided solely as a public service. Please contact your local political party for additional information and please see the Secretary of State Caucus FAQ for more information on the process.

Precinct Caucus

In each even-numbered year, the Colorado major political parties (Democratic Party and Republican Party) hold their precinct caucuses on the first Tuesday in March to begin the process of electing candidates to nominate in the up-coming election. Registered voters of the same political party gather to select delegates to represent the precinct at the county assembly and committee officers to organize political activities for the precinct. Precinct caucuses are open to the public and held throughout the state.

To participation in a precinct caucus an elector must be:

  • A resident of the precinct for at least 30 days, (Mon, Feb 1, 2016)* AND
  • Affiliated with the party holding the caucus at least 2 months before the caucus. (Mon, Jan 4, 2016)

* These dates are the same due to a Sunday end date (Jan 31) for resident of precinct deadline.

2016 Caucuses

This year's party caucuses are held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
