Active Status
Active voters automatically receive a ballot during all-mail ballot elections. They meet one of the following criteria:
- Voted in the last general election
- Registered to vote since the last general election
- Updated registration information since the last general election
Inactive Status includes...
Inactive-Failed-to-Vote Status
These voters will not automatically receive a mail-in ballot for the Nov. 6, 2012 general election but are still eligible to vote at their polling place on Election Day. There were 12,160 of these voters in Boulder County as of Oct. 3, 2012. The inactive-failed-to-vote status indicates the voter did not vote in the most recent general election and did not respond to subsequent notices from the Clerk & Recorder's office.
Other Inactive Categories
These voters do not automatically receive a ballot in all-mail ballot elections. They are still eligible to vote at their polling place in general elections. Categories include:
- Undeliverable Ballot and Returned Mail: Voters who no longer reside at the address provided on their voter registration file. Official election correspondence and/or general election ballot has been returned to the clerk's office as "undeliverable" by the post office because the resident no longer lives at the address.
- Conversion. These voters have missed at least one general election prior to the 2008 implementation of the statewide voter registration system and have had no contact with our office since that time.
