County combats spread of contagious disease
Jan. 18- The
incidence of a highly contagious disease has been on the rise across
the country for the past two decades. The same has been true for
Boulder County, where incidence rates have been 4 to 15 times the
national rate.
This disease, pertussis (or whooping cough),
poses one of the most significant communicable disease threats in
Boulder County.
Transportation Officials offer Winter Driving Tips
Emergency Services advise limited travel during storm
Dec. 28 -- In preparation for the winter storm that has already
begun to hit Boulder County, emergency services personnel are
advising limited travel. If travel is absolutely necessary,
motorists are encouraged to have emergency kits containing items
such as flashlights, emergency provisions, a blanket and a shovel.

Flood Exercise
City and County
offices participated in
a flood exercise on April 18 in order to test flood warning systems, review evacuation and
flood response plans and explore issues and needs that may arise
in the event of a major flood.

Residents warned to take precautions against West Nile Virus
The first human
case of West Nile virus (WNV) in Boulder County in 2006 was
confirmed during the first week of August. With a number of mosquito
pools testing positive for the dangerous and sometimes fatal virus,
Public Health officials are warning residents to take precautions to
avoid exposure to West Nile Virus.

Fire ban lifted in Boulder County
Sheriff Joe Pelle recommended
on Thursday, Aug. 3, that the fire restrictions in effect for the
western, mountainous half of Boulder County be lifted, and the Board
of County Commissioners agreed. Consequently, as of this Aug. 3,
there are no fire restrictions in effect in unincorporated Boulder
County.
