  • Asbestos roofing tar
  • Asbestos tile, non-friable (e.g. vinyl floor tile) - limited to small quantities less than 5 lbs. Please bring this material to the facility triple-wrapped in plastic
  • Batteries - we accept all Rechargeable and Button Cell batteries for recycling or disposal, including Lithium, Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), and lead acid batteries. Note: alkaline and zinc carbon batteries can be safely disposed of with household trash (except batteries more than 15 years old - please bring these to the HMMF).

Liquid Waste Accepted

  • Oil, paint, all other accepted liquids - if bringing liquid waste in a 5-gallon bucket, please leave 1 inch of space between the liquid and the brim of the bucket. Containers larger than 5 gallons are not accepted.

Sharps Biohazard Medical Waste

  • The Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF) accepts sharps from Boulder County, City and County of Broomfield, and the Town of Erie residents free of charge during normal hours of operation. Household Sharps Guidance
  • Boulder County Public Health set up two biohazard medical waste bins for use by individuals enrolled in Boulder County’s Works Program.  The Works Program is Boulder County’s legal syringe exchange program in establishment since 1989.
