Medical Reserve Corps Advisory Council

The Advisory Council meets bi-monthly to advise staff regarding administrative issues related to member recruitment, core competencies, educational certifications, training, and exercises.

As the leadership piece of the organization, the Advisory Council guides and operates the organization.

Work Groups

In addition to the advisory council there are three work groups that any volunteer can participate in, including:

  1. Training & Exercise Work Group
    Provide support, and internal drills to volunteers
  2. Recruitment Work Group
    Find new members and retrain existing members. Provide and attend health fairs, generate press releases and public outreach.
  3. Response Guidelines Work Group
    Define specific roles and responsibilities during emergencies and deployments.

MRCBC receives grant funds from Boulder County Commissioners

The March/April 2010 issue of County Comments includes an article, "Commissioners award funds in honor of National Volunteer Week" about innovative project proposals that the Boulder County Commissioners funded for 2010. MRCBC members Walter Boner, Jr. and Raven Starr submitted a proposal that will provide $500 in funding to purchase additional first aid supplies and emergency blankets for members' Ready Bags to use during an emergency or disaster.

Grant funds will be used to purchase of jump drives that will contain both the MRCBC Field Guide and Psychological First Aid handbook reducing the need for paper copies and meeting the county's goal of sustainability.
