Aspinwall New Construction and Revitalization Project, through Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA), is comprised of the construction of 72 affordable rental units and the rehabilitation of 95 scattered-site units that are currently owned and managed by BCHA. This project will be fully located within Lafayette, CO.

The 72-unit new construction portion, called Aspinwall at Josephine Commons, is the 2nd phase of the development, after Josephine Commons Senior Housing (Phase I), which was completed in 2012. The 95 existing units will be renovated based on comprehensive needs assessments and will vary on scope of work, depending on the conditions.

The Aspinwall development will feature townhomes and duplexes ranging in size from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms and will provide an environment that supports a variety of residents.  Common space amenities may include a playground, communal green area, and a community garden. Construction is anticipated to begin early Summer 2013, and completed by late 2014.  Our goal is to lease the units as they are built, with the first units ready for tenants to move in by the end of the 1st quarter 2014.  To add your information to the interest list, please see the tab Interest List.

The existing housing units will be renovated based on comprehensive needs assessments completed for those units. As with all of the units we own, BCHA strives to ensure that our properties continue to be well-maintained, safe for residents, energy-efficient, aesthetically-pleasing, and to be a good neighbor.

The story behind the name:  Aspinwall at Josephine Commons


The site is named after Josephine Aspinwall Roche (1886-1976), who was the controlling owner of the Rocky Mountain Fuel Company, which owned and operated many of the mines in the Lafayette area, including the site upon which these 72 units of affordable rentals will be constructed.

Nestled in the heart of Boulder County, Aspinwall at Josephine Commons is situated close to the Regional Coal Creek Trail, which has miles of continuous walking and biking trails.  Bordered by the future Lafayette Great Park and Josephine Roche Open Space, residents will enjoy scenic views and a peaceful atmosphere.  The property features a Community Green with play-ground.  Residents may also access the Community Garden at the senior building, which will bring residents together, and pave the way for multi-generational bonding and a sense of community.
