Primary Control Network
Beginning in late 1998, 51 control points, 28 existing and 23 new
monuments, were selected to provide a primary control network throughout
eastern Boulder County. These points have a maximum spacing of 6 miles
between points.
Aylstra Baker Surveying, Inc., retained by CDOT, observed these points in July and August of 1999 and submitted
them to the National Geodetic Survey for Bluebooking
in early 2000. Datasheets
for these points are available to the public under Project ID GPS1454.
Primary Control Point Data
Descriptions of each primary control point of interest is located on the primary
locator map. These data can be downloaded, free of charge, from this
website.
The horizontal positional accuracy of the coordinates is within a
centimeter and the vertical positional accuracy is approximately 0.5 feet.
Details on the project can be reviewed in the "Primary
Control Project Report."
Coordinate Information
Coordinate information for the 51 primary network control points is
available in the following formats:
- Text files of the x-y-z coordinates in Latitude-Longitude;
NAD 83/92, in degrees, minutes, and seconds; Colorado State Plane North
Zone projection in feet and
meters.
- Shapefile format in Boulder County's standard projection and
coordinate system, including additional
attributes for each point. It has a scale of 1:24,000 and is in Colorado
State Plane (zip file format), North Zone projection, based on the
1992 adjustment of the 1982 North American Datum (HPGN NAD 83/92).
