Boulder County Land Use
This data layer represents the building footprints for unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado. The intent is to maintain this data layer continuously as new aerial photography becomes available and from building permit records. The goal is to maintain a structure dataset within one year of actual conditions.
Permanent buildings generally over ten by ten feet that have a roof or are habitable are mapped. This includes structures such as houses, commercial buildings, manufactured housing, garages, sheds, silos, agricultural buildings, etc. are mapped. Stand-alone photovoltaic arrays are also mapped. Temporary, mobile or minor structures such as RV’s, yard and play equipment, swimming pools, pergolas, trellises, fencing, retaining walls, light poles, and signs are not mapped.
The building footprint data is primarily based on aerial photography from 2008-2011 and captured by outlining the structure rooflines. Other sources include the buildings captured from 1999 aerial photography, building extents drawn by Bohannan-Houston in the Fourmile Canyon Fire area and buildings drawn by the City of Boulder and downloaded from the City’s website.
