Projects and Programs
Hard Rock Mining Tour: Explore the fascinating history of hard rock mining in the county through historic photos, present-day photos, videos, oral histories and an interactive map.
Artist-in-Residence Program: A new program that provides artists an opportunity to pursue their work in the inspiring landscape and history of Caribou Ranch. Applications are due February 15, 2012.
Niwot Dry Creek Loop Construction: A new trail is being constructed completing the missing section of the loop.
Walden Ponds Improvements: Parking lots are being improved and repairs will be made to the boardwalk.
Mud Lake Shelter: A new shelter is being constructed along the trail with views to the lake and is expected to open in the spring.
Lower Boulder Creek Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project: The project received approval from the county and the Corps and is moving into the Design and Implementation Phase. Project construction is anticipated to begin soon and be completed in fall 2013.
Policies and Plans
Cropland Policy: On December 20, Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the policy with some additional recommendations.
Highway 42 Trail: On January 5, commissioners approved an amendment to the management plan for the Mayhoffer 15 property that will allow the construction of a recreational connector trail parallel to Highway 42.
Lagerman/Imel Open Space Complex: Because of recent staffing changes, this planning process is currently on hold. Staff plans to resume the planning process later this year.
Walker Ranch Management Plan: Staff is currently developing management alternatives that will be presented to the public for review and comment this winter.
