Access to Health Care Among Adults in Boulder County

Access to health care is an important factor influencing health. Studies have shown that people who do not have adequate access to health care are at risk for more serious conditions and longer, more expensive treatment.

One of the main measures of health care access is insurance status. The percentage of adults with health insurance coverage has increased in Boulder County between 1998 and 2003, and compares favorably with Colorado.

However, 2000-2003 data show disparities in health care access by race/ethnicity, both for Boulder County and statewide.
