About
Tobacco Education & Prevention
Partnership (TEPP)
Tobacco use remains the number one preventable cause of death and
disease in the nation and in Boulder County. Smoking and secondhand smoke
contributes to heart disease, lung cancer, emphysema, and increases the
risk of pneumonia, bronchitis, and ear infections in children.
TEPP works through community coalitions to reduce tobacco
use by:
- Preventing initiation of tobacco use among young
people.
- Developing and identifying services to help people quit
tobacco use (cessation).
- Educating and protecting from secondhand smoke (also known as
environmental tobacco smoke, or ETS).
- Eliminating disparities in tobacco use among diverse
populations.
The goal of the program is to create a healthy, tobacco-free environment for all residents
of Boulder County.
