Alcohol
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism, nearly 14 million people in the United States (1 in
every 13 adults) have alcohol problems, though most do not
realize or acknowledge it.
Anal Cancer
Gay and bisexual men, especially those with
HIV, are at significantly higher risk for anal cancer than the
general population.
Depression & Mental
Health
Millions of Americans, both LGBTIQ and straight, have emotional
or psychological problems of some sort during their lives.
Domestic
Violence
Domestic violence in LGBTIQ couples is largely the same as it
is in heterosexual couples. One partner maintains control over
the other person and limits his or her freedom to socialize.
Health Care
There is evidence that the quality of the provider-patient
relationship has a direct effect on the quality of care a
person receives, and on health outcomes.

Hepatitis
Hepatitis can be caused by any of several viruses (types A, B,
C, D, E, F, G), but can also be caused by some bacteria and
parasites, alcohol, medications, and other chemicals.
Reparative
or Conversion Therapy
No reliable evidence exists that conversion therapy is
effective in changing a person's sexual orientation. All the
major medical and psychological organizations actively oppose its practice
in the United States.
Safety & Hate Crimes
Acts of anti-LGBTIQ violence are those in which victims are
chosen because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation
and/or gender identity.
Sexually Transmitted
Infections
Some STI’s, like gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and syphilis, are
easily curable with antibiotics; if treated promptly, they
rarely have long-term consequences.
Tobacco & Smoking
Smoking kills more LGBTIQ people than hate
crimes, suicide, and AIDS combined. Smoking is the most
preventable cause of death in our society.
