Lesbian,
gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersex, or questioning (LGBTIQ)? 13-21
years of age? If so, OASOS is here for you! We provide FREE and CONFIDENTIAL
weekly support groups for LGBTIQ youth, ages 20 and under, in Boulder
County. Groups are fun, supportive, and educational and are led by OASOS
staff and trained volunteers.
Current, local data shows that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and questioning
youth are at a higher risk than their heterosexual peers for substance
abuse, assault, suicide, dropping out of school, and homelessness. Support
programs made up of other youth facing the same issues are proven to reduce
these risk factors. OASOS works to ensure that every youth has the support
and resources necessary to live healthy, happy lives. For more information or for directions to OASOS groups,
please call:
(303) 678-6259. In addition to the groups, OASOS offers the following FREE and CONFIDENTIAL
direct services for youth:
- Crisis counseling and referral.
- Free on-site HIV testing and counseling.
- Community events, such as camping trips, youth cabarets, and other fun
activities.
In conjunction with the OASOS Program, Boulder County Public Health offers
training on LGBTIQ issues to school staff and students, health care
providers, and other youth-serving professionals. Find out more by
contacting the BCPH Health Outreach and Advocacy Program.
