Alternatives to Open Burning

Open burning releases smoke, fine particulates (tiny particles that can be inhaled into the lungs), carbon monoxide, and other types of air pollutants which contribute to local air quality and health problems. There are alternatives to the open burning of slash (forest debris); Boulder County has dropoff locations where slash can be disposed of safely and efficiently.

For information on alternatives to burning slash and locations and hours of Boulder County's slash disposal sort yards, please visit: http://www.bouldercounty.org/foresthealth/pages/collection_sites.htm

For more information about Boulder County's Forest Health Initiative, please visit www.bouldercounty.org/foresthealth. If you have questions about forest management or bark beetles, contact Boulder County Land Use's Forestry Education and Outreach Coordinator by email at pinebeetle@bouldercounty.org or call 720-564-2641.

Have you considered alternatives to burning?

Yes, I have considered alternatives, and I would still like to apply for a
burn permit:
