Environmental Emergency Response Team (EERT)
Boulder County Public Health has an Environmental Emergency Response Team
(EERT) with
someone on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This team responds to emergency
spills that may adversely affect public health and/or environment. Team
members ensure that spills are reported, the spilled material is collected
and disposed of properly, and the spill area receives appropriate remedial
action. The EERT also assists the Designated Emergency
Response Authority (DERA) with safety and environmental concerns. All response team
members must meet minimum training requirements (88
hours), attend in-house training classes, and complete an annual emergency
response refresher class.
EERT members work closely
with law enforcement agencies, fire districts, and risk managers, and
participate in the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the
Governor's Interagency Advisory Group on Hazardous Materials which
addresses hazardous materials preparedness planning for the State of
Colorado.
