Q. How do I clean
up mouse droppings to protect myself from hanta virus?
A.
Air out the interior for at least 30 minutes before cleaning; spray
droppings, nest material, and carcasses with disinfectant and let
soak 5 to 10 minutes before cleaning up with mop, sponge, or
wet-vacuum. DO
NOT SWEEP OR DRY VACUUM RODENT DROPPINGS. Dispose of contaminated
materials in a sealed plastic bag and place outdoors in a trashcan.

Q. I have prairie dogs in my backyard. Do they carry
plague? What can I do?
A. Prairie dogs can carry fleas that
may be infected with plague. Attempt to exclude them from your
property via snow fencing or other materials they cannot see
