Tom Hendricks of Calais Resources will discuss mining history in
Boulder
County, with emphasis on the Caribou Gold and Silver District west of Nederland.
Tom has mined in Boulder County for more than 30 years. Jim Cowart will
discuss environmental reclamation with emphasis on the Burlington Mine
outside Jamestown, where cleanup efforts received the 2005 Mined Land
Reclamation Board Award from the Colorado Department of Minerals and
Geology. Jim Cowart is a professional engineer with more than 30 years
experience with Walsh Environmental in Boulder.
The monthly Boulder Creek Watershed Forum series is sponsored by
the
Boulder Creek Watershed Initiative, the U.S. Geological Survey, City of
Boulder, and the Boulder Public Library. Refreshments are provided in the
Library's Canyon Gallery courtesy of Moe's Broadway Bagels, Cafe Sole,
and Breadworks. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program begins at 7:00
