Tackling an issue before it becomes a serious health problem is smart…and it is a challenge for us all. That’s why Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) has met with members of our community over the last year to help us design a program to address this issue.

With SepticSmart, we are proposing a program that incorporates ideas and recommendations from our communities that will be effective in protecting our watershed.

We have already met with a number of wastewater professionals and other experts on water quality issues. We have also conducted focus groups to identify concerns and interests in these issues.

We have researched the ways that other communities across the country have dealt with similar issues, including communities that have implemented a property transfer regulation.

We are putting this much time and energy into this issue because we truly believe that "fecal matters."
