New System
Step 3: Schedule a site inspection

A site inspection will be conducted by Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) staff. This inspection is an important step in ensuring that the new septic system will not pose a risk to the environment once installed.

This inspection will include a general review of the conditions of the site, including checking that appropriate soil; is used, that the system is not too close to wells, waterways, or property lines; and that bedrock and groundwater are at appropriate levels.

After the inspection, staff will review your application, design requirements (if applicable), inspection analysis, and data. This review can take up to 14 days.

If all regulations are met, BCPH will send you a postcard letting you know that your permit is ready to be picked up at our office.

You can pick up your permit at our office at 3450 Broadway, Boulder, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Map & Driving Directions
