Inspection Process
Check the OWS permitting and approval status through the “check permit” function on this web site. If the home has an approved permit, then proceed with hiring an inspector. Plan ahead. The septic tank should be pumped during the inspection. To save money, there is no need to have it pumped in the weeks or months leading up to the inspection. Be able to produce receipts to demonstrate that the tank was pumped every 2-4 years during operation of the OWS. Get the inspection done early in the process of listing the property. The total cost may be $350-$550. The homeowner will need to be present during the inspection. Either submit the passing inspection report to BCPH with the nominal fee or get a permit from BCPH to repair the deficiencies. Repair permits range in cost from $200-$730, depending on the type of repair. If you are a seller of a home.
