Federal, state,
and local agencies are working together in development of plans to respond
to pandemic influenza when it occurs in this country.
This planning includes:
- Meeting with businesses and community groups to aid in response.
- Meeting with local, state, and federal leadership.
- Developing vaccines and medications.
- Planning and practicing the rapid distribution of vaccines and
medications.
Locally, Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) has been working with other
public health officials, local leaders, and emergency management to
develop and practice plans for the protection of the community.
Resources devoted to preparation for bioterrorism, emergencies, and
natural disasters has helped local agencies prepare for pandemic
influenza. The regular public health activity of monitoring other
diseases continualy helps to prepare for pandemic influenza.
Members of the public can help by keeping informed and understanding
the importance of following public health instructions to stay home if
necessary. |
