Treating Pneumococcal Disease

Early diagnosis and treatment for pneumococcal meningitis is crucial to improving the outcome of the ill person's health.

Treatment consists of appropriate antibiotic therapy as decided by a health care provider.

Preventative antibiotics are not recommended for anyone who may have been exposed to a person diagnosed with pneumococcal disease.
