Most persons experience watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and weight loss.
Children who are infected with cryptosporidiosis often have low-grade fever
(< 101°F) and vomiting. Symptoms may recur after
several days of normal stool.
Some people can be infected without apparent symptoms.
The illness is mild to moderate in severity and runs its course without
treatment.
Symptoms will usually
last about 2 weeks but can range from 1-30 days.
Persons with compromised immune
systems can have a long-lasting, severe illness that may be
life-threatening.
