Treatment for acute hepatitis B is supportive.
Chronic hepatitis B can be treated with interferon-alfa.
Approximately 25% to 40% of adults with chronic HBV infection achieve long-term
remission after treatment with interferon-alfa.
Hepatitis B-positive persons should be evaluated for liver disease by
their health care provider.
