Fact Sheet (PDF 19 KB)
The symptoms of meningitis may not be the same for every
person.
The most common symptoms are usually fever, headache,
stiff neck, drowsiness, mental confusion, and nausea and vomiting.
In some cases, a rash may develop on the patient’s
mid-section.
All of these symptoms may be difficult to identify in infants;
however, the symptoms
most commonly seen in infants are fever, vomiting, and fussiness.
