Ringworm infection is not caused by a worm, but rather by
several different kinds of fungi that infect the skin.
The infection is common worldwide and occurs in all
susceptible people regardless of age, sex, or socioeconomic status. Both
animals and humans are affected by ringworm.
Ringworm infection can occur on the head, body, and feet
(athlete’s foot).
