Town of Lyons Mosquito Activity - 2004

Updated - 08/25/04

Regardless of mosquito activity at a trap location, it remains important to remember the 4 D's throughout the summer:

  1. Use DEET or alternative.
  2. DRESS in long sleeves and pants.
  3. Avoid DUSK until DAWN.
  4. DRAIN standing water.

 * Culex Present: Although 43 different species of mosquitoes can carry the West Nile Virus, Culex species are the primary carriers of the virus in Colorado. Because of this, Boulder County Public Health focuses on these species for surveillance, control, and identification of relative risk for contracting West Nile virus within Boulder County. >> More on Culex

Disclaimer: These maps do not indicate areas free of risk for West Nile Virus. Human cases have been reported in Colorado in 2004. Regardless of where you live, we recommend you take precautions to reduce risk of exposure including the 4 D's.
