Culex Species : Mosquitoes 

Although 43 different species of mosquitoes can carry the West Nile Virus, Culex species are the primary carrier of the virus in Colorado. 

Because of this, Boulder County Public Health focuses on this species for surveillance, control, and identification of relative risk for contracting West Nile virus within Boulder County.
